Bentley SUV could offer V12 TDI

Could be launched in 2014

Speaking at a recent press event, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer revealed some new details about the brand's upcoming crossover.
He wouldn't go into specifics, but said "If Bentley were able to sell an SUV with the same level of craftsmanship as a Continental or Mulsanne, we could have an interesting success on our hands." Furthermore, the executive hinted the model would likely become Bentley's best-selling vehicle.
Car Magazine says the crossover is codenamed the BY736 and will be based on the MLB Evo platform. It is slated to feature coupe-like styling and a bespoke four- or five-seat interior.
Engine options will likely include a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, a twin-turbo W12 and possibly a V12 TDI. There's also word of a plug-in hybrid variant, but technical details remain a mystery.
If everything goes according to plan, the SUV will be approved for production later this year and could be launched in 2014.
